Dr. Stadra

My education

Through long and intensive studies, my curiosity and my thirst for knowledge have given excellent results. At an early age I wanted to become a doctor. After graduating from upper secondary school I worked as a nursing assistant at a casually department.
This was valuable experience for the future. I got a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics, physics and chemistry. I began to study to become a doctor in 1975.
My debut as a doctor was in 1978 at Lycksele Hospital.
In 1982 I received my medical license and in 1987 I became a specialist in general medicine. My professional interest has focused strongly on challenges and practical, hands-on care.

In the beginning of the 1980's I was introduced to orthopaedic medicine by enthusiastic physiotherapists at Loka Brunn, an old and well renowned health spa in central Sweden. Ortopedic medicine puts skillfull physical examination, functional diagnostics and the human being as a living creature in focus. Here I found what I was looking for and I've worked in this field from that day on.
Dr. Roger Stadra
I have reached the highest level in ortopedic medicine for doctors in Sweden:
Advanced degree of ortopedic medicine with certificate of manipulation (-94) and Advanced degree of ortopedic
manual therapy (OMT-3)
(-95).
Since 1991 I have been working exclusively with ortopedic medicine in private practice and as an ortopedic medical consultant in Stockholm.

My personal experience

My curiosity and desire to increase my experience led me to try several different methods of treatment such as chiropractic, naprapathy, acupuncture, healing, rosen, trager, etc. Today I have close collaboration with many competent therapists both within and outside the organised health care system.
I realized at an early stage that encountering the person beyond the pain and the problem is central in all therapeutic work. In these encounters, honesty and a willingness to confront oneself are necessary conditions for both parties. Self-knowledge and courage to meet myself in all aspects of being are the strongest elements in my own life and in my own development over the last few years, thus my motto:
"the only way out is - in".

My conviction

Many causes of pain are of an inflammatory nature and need specific treatment. It is an important and often necessary part in order for other rehabilitation to begin. A well-designed rehabilitation plan contains many suplementary parts. The goal is adequate self care, in all dimensions. Pain is like an alarm clock. To learn to know your own body and to listen to the message beyond the pain is important, although it can be difficult. Only the individual can interpret the implication of the message. Nobody else can experience or question the individual's own experience. To "respond to" the message means to take responsibility. We then have the opportunity to meet the body's needs, whatever they may be.
The pain is what makes the patient go to the doctor. The symptom of pain generally includes much more than the pain itself. In a wider perspective it is all about regaining control of your life.
